GEORGE
Born and raised in Nairobi, George has worked his culinary magic at some of Kenya’s finest hotels and restaurants, including Talisman in Karen and the Watamu Beach Hotel on the coast. After tasting his food, we begged him to come to Sirai to join our team – and luckily for us he accepted. George loves teaching almost as much as cooking and will happily give lessons if you’d like to learn the secrets of his signature dishes.
DELMAS
Born in 1990 in Arijiju Community just on the outskirts of Borana Conservancy, Delmas was then schooled in Ethi Village, only a 10 minute drive away from where Sirai House sits today! Delmas’ first job after school was at Sirai House during construction in 2012, working closely with the interior design team during installation. After the house was completed he moved into the housekeeping department whilst training in service at the same time. Just a short while later he moved into the service team working all the way up to head of this important department in 2018! Delmas is happily married with 3 young children, his home is in Ethi, right on the border of Borana Conservancy.
MICHAEL "TWIGA"
Michael is affectionately known as Twiga, which is Swahili for giraffe! Twiga is our head landscaper. He lives just a stone's throw away from Sirai House in Ngare Ndare village with his wife and 3 children. Twiga and his team have been responsible for planting over 1000 trees on the property over the last 10 years, as well as caring for the "shamba" and orchard full of our delicious fruit and vegetables! Twiga and his team also care for our many egg-laying chickens! At home, Twiga has a small farm growing french beans, onions, and maize.
BENEDETA
Bena hails from the eastern region of Kenya – the Kamba tribe – where she grew up with her five brothers and sisters. She has spent her entire working life as a housekeeper, most recently as head of housekeeping at Shampole Lodge. Bena’s dream is to eventually settle somewhere peaceful, with her own chickens and shamba, surrounded by many grandchildren.
NAFTARY
Naftary has been with Sirai since the very beginning, starting his work here as a "fundi" in carpentry and mason work during Sirai House's building. Since then, he has been an invaluable member of the team, our head of maintenance! Naftary knows this property like the back of his hand! He and his wife and 2 children live in Ngare Ndare, where he has a small farm of onions, tomatoes, and goats.
