Given its geographical location, Sirai House is the ideal base from which to explore Mount Kenya and the northern frontier by helicopter, light aircraft or bi-plane. We also highly recommend: trips to Sera, in the North, for a mobile camp in stunning landscapes; trips to Lake Turkana or Lake Alice; Heli-Safaris that can be taken into Ethiopia; riding or camel safaris and much more. All of which can be booked for you by our Sirai team.
Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa soaring to 5,200 metres (over 17,000 feet) and is just a short helicopter flight away from Sirai, rich in forests, valleys, lakes and peaks. We can drop you on the shores of Lakes Alice or Michaelson for a picnic breakfast and some fly fishing before getting you home to Sirai in time for lunch.
The Singing Wells
With water scarce, the people of Ol Donyo Wasin are forced to fetch water from deep wells to feed their livestock. They sing as they work and each time they change their song the animals know if it is their turn to drink or to go back to grazing.
Fed the by the Sandai and Emsos rivers and around 200 alkaline hot springs, Lake Bogoria is a volcanic marvel and home to one of the world's largest populations of flamingoes that nest on its shores. A short flight by bi-plane from Sirai, this otherworldly place shimmers pink with the flight of thousands of birds.
Suguta Valley to Lake Turkana
The Suguta Valley is at the heart of the northern deserts of Kenya, a geological wonder which lies along the Gregory Rift. Camp under the stars before travelling on to the volcanic wilds of Lake Turkana where you can see large colonies of nile crocodiles as well as hundreds of species of birds, pausing on their migratory paths along the East African Rift.
